Mid-summer is the time when most of us grumble our way to work and constantly grouse over the intolerable humidity and scorching heat. Lost in the humdrum of our 24X7 schedule, we totally dismiss and forget about the people who dedicate their lives in serving us despite smoldering heat, bitter cold and torrential monsoons.
These are some professions that battle the summer heat only to keep us safe, satisfied and healthy.
Army men & women
These are men and women with an iron shield over their hearts. They don’t distinguish between the dark nights or sunny days & pouring rains or blazing heat. These are the individuals that stay in service through these harsh conditions to guard their nation and its people.
Construction workers
So many times, we stare at the skyscrapers and beautiful buildings across the city in awe and admire the work of the architect and the builder. Hardly anyone ever spares a moment to recognize the toil of the construction workers and the arduous tasks they carry out. No matter how bad the weather is, these are the people who silently continue working.
Dabbawalas
Most of us begin to lose our minds by the lunch time. We need a break and of course, fresh and warm homemade food. This can be possible only with the Dabbawala system in Mumbai and now emerging in other metros as well. The Dabbawalas diligently carry lunch for professionals across the city regardless of their own situation, making their way through the harsh weather or situational problems.
Cart-pullers
By dusk, these men (and women in rare occasions) have laboriously pulled their carts for long hours through the wide roads and slight lanes of the cities. These are the cart-pullers who are in most cases responsible for bringing in goods to shops, homes or offices. We drive past them honking and alleging them for blocking the way without realizing the thankless jobs they are doing at negligible pays in the heat and the cold.
Traffic cops
We all wish to get to work at the earliest. But, the people who facilitate this with ease are the traffic cops. Ignoring the boiling weather and full-blaze sun over their heads, these individuals deliver their duties to ensure smooth flow of vehicles on the roads just so commoners can get to their destinations.
