Not Godzilla, not kraken. So, what ate this massive white shark?

Who eats a nine-feet long great white shark? But something clearly did.

In a bizarre turn of events for a huge 2.7-metre-long great white which was marked by researchers in a scientific effort — the predator became the prey. Australian scientists had marked the shark and were keeping a tab on its movement through a device which could gauge its location, depth, and temperature, says a Gizmodo report .

But when this tracking device washed up on the beach, alarm bells started ringing — and why not — a nine-foot predator which is hard to kill was ruthlessly eaten, with the records showing that the shark’s temperature suddenly rose while also recording a 580-metre plunge.

So, simple explanation: great white shark was eaten by something greater after being pulled down into the depths of the ocean — the rise in temperature explained by the fact that the device was residing in the super predator’s stomach.

So, what could it be? Researchers say that the only explanation is that a bigger shark ate the (comparatively) smaller shark. And why is this news? Because it really doesn’t happen often (just look at the video below – eating this shark is no small feat), but it turns out that bigger sharks do eat big sharks.

However, wandering minds will surely have other theories until proven. Godzilla and krakens are immediate guesses. Or maybe the Loch Ness monster decided to migrate to the seas. Something is surely up.
