A shocking video has surfaced which shows the Andhra Pradesh police keeping a young boy tied in chains. In a clear violation of human rights, the video shows a boy huddled at one corner of the police station, with a chain around his left feet. One can’t clearly see what he is chained to.
According to CNN-IBN reports, the boy was accused shoplifting.
The video that flashed across news channels showed the boy sitting on the floor and weeping. This incident, like many others, brings to fore the issue of how the police lack sensitivity in dealing with crimes.
CNN-IBN reports, an enquiry was ordered into the incident after human rights activists saw the video and protested the treatment meted out to the boy.
According to India Today , the Vetapelam SI was suspended after the incident was reported.
