A Dalit youth was brutally assaulted and killed in Shirdi, Maharashtra allegedly over his mobile ringtone of a song on Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, reports The Hindu .
The eight youths involved in the murder got into a fight with Sagar Shejwal, a student, in a beer shop when his phone rang and the ringtone was set to a Bhimrao Ambedkar’s song.
They took him to an unknown location where he was assaulted. Later, the assailants drove their bikes over his body multiple times. Shejwal scummed to his injuries on the spot.
His body was later discovered by a family member who says the police was uncooperative and refused to take their complains seriously when Shejwal went missing.
Four of the assailants were arrested. Two others were later arrested in Goa, reports the Times of India .
