A Crime Branch team had arrested Sunil Panwar alias Guruji, Mohammad Zubeir, Praveen Jha and Ranchit Khurana on Thursday for running the admission racket using fake academic documents and papers on 29 July.

During investigation and interrogation of the arrested accused the cops stumbled upon the names of one Inderjeet alias Kaku who claimed to be associated with Youth Congress and who was instrumental in fake admissions, said a senior Crime Branch officer.

Several raids were made by the police teams at Inderjeet’s house in Malviya Nagar to nab him but he is still absconding, said the officer.

The spokesman of Indian Youth Congress Amrish Ranjan denied that Inderjeet had anything to do with the outfit.

“We examined details of all the Youth Congress office bearers of Delhi, specially Malviya Nagar office bearers but no one with this name could be figured out by us. He is not even a member of Youth Congress, let alone being an office bearer,” Amrish said.

Police said that Inderjeet is learnt to have connections with clerical staff of some DU colleges where he allegedly used his political clout for admissions through fake documents that he obtained from Ajit Jha who was arrested earlier.

Notices have also been issued to the concerned colleges where admissions were done on the basis of fake documents. The documents and papers seized by the police are being examined and further raids will be conducted to catch those who were involved in it, added the officer.
