Police gun down three militants in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: Three militants were killed today in an encounter with security forces in Tral area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, police said.

A motor vehicle checking party of security forces was fired upon by militants travelling in a vehicle in Tral at around 7 pm, which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter, Inspector General of Police Kashmir AG Mir told PTI.

“In the ensuing gun battle, three militants were killed. The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained,” Mir said.

He said an SLR rifle, a carbine, a pistol and some hand grenades were recovered from the scene of encounter.
