Those who took oath as ministers of state were Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ram Kripal Yadav, Haribhai Parthibhai Choudhary, Sanwar Lal Jat, Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, Giriraj Singh, Hansraj Ahir, Ram Shankar Katheria, TDP’s Y.S. Chowdary, Jayant Sinha, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Babul Supriyo, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Vijay Sampla.

Former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar was the first to be sworn in as cabinet minsiter. Parrikar is the first Cabinet Minister from Goa and shares a good rapport with the Prime Minister.

Shiv Sena leader Suresh Prabhu was the second to be sworn in as cabinet minister. He is being touted as the next Railways Minister. Prabhu was also appointed as Modi's 'sherpa' to assist the Prime Minister at the upcoming G20 summit in Brisbane. Prabhu has represented the Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency in Konkan four times, from 1996 to 2009. He lost his seat in the 2009 general election. This is the same constituency which late Janata Party leader Madhu Dandavate had represented.
