Mumbai: Senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Sunday said the loan waiver scheme announced by the Maharashtra government was “misleading”.
“The state government is buying time,” the leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly told reporters here on eve of the Monsoon Session.
“The government had said it would issue the forms for farmers who wish to join loan waiver scheme. If the state had already announced figures of outstanding loan, why is it again compiling the same information? All the banks have the information about the outstanding loan and the state has to just waive it,” Vikhe Patil said.
According to him, the government has given the name of “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the loan waiver scheme, to pacify the people’s rage against it”.
“The state government first delayed in announcing the scheme,” he claimed.
Vikhe Patil also said the “state government continues to mislead people in the name of memorials”.
“We want to know what is the status of memorial of Babasaheb Ambedkar coming up at Indu Mill and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in the Arabian Sea,” he said.
