Patna: West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Wednesday arrived by a commercial flight from Kolkata to take additional charge as Bihar governor.

Tripathi will be the administered the oath of office on Thursday following resignation of Ram Nath Kovind after he was declared the NDA nominee for President’s post, a Raj Bhawan official said.

Tripathi was received at the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar Governor’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sunil Pathak said.

The 82 year-old West Bengal governor was given a welcome guard of honour by the state police jawans outside the Raj Bhawan precincts, he said adding, Kumar introduced his ministerial colleagues to the Bihar Governor-designate.

Patna High Court Chief Justice Rajendra Menon will administer the oath to Tripathi as acting Governor at a function in Raj Bhawan on Wednesday, the PRO said.
