According to defence ministry sources, the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy unprovoked firing at about 5 am. “The Indian positions are effectively retaliating. Firing exchanges are continuing,” the sources told IANS.

This comes just hours after a security personnel was injured when militants attacked an army camp in Kupwara district of Kashmir. After the attack, the army launched a massive manhunt with the help of paramilitary commandos, India Today reported.

This comes just a day after former Hizbul Mujahideen commander Zakir Musa was reportedly cornered by armed forces in Tral district of Kashmir.
