Kolkata: Arrested former Calcutta High Court judge Justice CS Karnan has been sent back to Presidency Jail hospital after he was discharged from the state-run SSKM Hospital, authorities said.

“He was discharged yesterday (Thursday). He was stable at the time of release,” an SSKM official said.

The 62-year-old Karnan was sentenced to six months in jail on 9 May for contempt of the Supreme Court.

After remaining untraceable for a while, Karnan was arrested in Chennai and brought to Kolkata on 22 June. He was lodged in the Presidency Jail. On Thursday, the former judge was admitted to hospital .
