Aligarh: Students at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) took out a candle light march on the campus to protest against the recent violence in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.

The president of the Foundation, Pervez Siddiqui told reporters here that if the present “divisive” trend was not confronted strongly, it would cause irreparable damage to the country.

The foundation urged the President to intervene in this grave situation and ensure that a CBI probe was conducted in the Muzaffarpur killings to bring out the truth.

At least 14 persons have been arrested in connection with 18 January violence in Ajitpur village of Muzaffarpur district in which three persons were charred to death when a mob torched nine houses, following recovery of body of an abducted youth.

Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who was in Mumbai at that time, had cut short his visit in view of the incident and security had been tightened at the village.
