Vivek Oberoi is an actor who has garnered more eyeballs for his anti-hero characters than the heroic ones. This trend originates right from his first film, Ram Gopal Varma’s 2002 crime thriller Company, in which he played a grey character in Chandu.

Other memorable dark roles by him include Maya from Sanjay Gupta’s 2007 crime drama Shootout at Lokhandwala, Pratap Ravi in Varma’s political thriller franchise Rakhta Charitra and Kaal in Rakesh Roshan’s 2013 superhero flick Krrish 3.

Now, after impressing Hindi cinema with his dark characters, Oberoi has turned to other industries.

Bollywood Hungama reports that he is gearing up to play an antagonist in Siva’s Tamil action thriller Vivegam and will be seen locking horns with the protagonist played by Ajith Kumar.

The makers have released the first look of Oberoi from the film and he looks suave in a navy blue suit, coupled with shades and sleek hair. It makes for a perfect look for a despicable yet irresistible antagonist of a south Indian film.

Soon, his Deewane Huye Pagal co-star Akshay Kumar will also be seen playing the antagonist in S Shankar’s Tamil science fiction film 2.0 in which he is pitted against Rajinikanth who reprises his role of a robot from the prequel Enthiran.

Scoop Whoop reports that Oberoi will play another gray character in Power Play, a 12-part web series based on the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will play cricket administrator and the founder of the IPL, Lalit Modi in the series which will revolve around the controversies that Modi was embroiled in during 2007.

Also, Richa Chadha will play former actor and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, Preity Zinta, in the web series that also stars Angad Bedi and Gulshan Devaiah. It will be directed by Bangistan-fame filmmaker Karan Anshuman and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
