Steven Wilson releases new track 'Permanating' with Bollywood-themed visuals

UK-based singer-songwriter and founder of Porcupine Tree Steven Wilson has released the video of his song ‘Permanating’, which features him playing the piano and dancers wearing Indian clothes and dancing in Bollywood-style.

The lyrics of ‘Permanating’ are about holding on the present moment and enjoying it, and the song in itself is a peppy number that will make you want to get up and dance. The visuals are meant to be Bollywood-themed, but they seemed to be a Hollywood-ised take on the song sequences of Hindi cinema. The choreography is a mix of classical Indian dance and Shiamak Davar’s trademark style, resulting in a video that is reminiscent of Raj and Bernadette’s routine in an episode of The Big Bang Theory or the wedding sequence from Outsourced.

Speaking about the video, Wilson said, “I’m very proud of the video for ‘Permanating’. As soon as I wrote this song I had it in mind that Bollywood dancing would be the perfect accompaniment, such a joyous form of dance for what is probably the most joyous pop song I have ever come up with. I hope it will put a smile on your face as it does for me.”

“Most of the songs on the album are about ‘truth’ being something that can be twisted and filtered to mean whatever you want it to mean, whether you’re a politician, a terrorist or just trying to convince yourself that a relationship is working when it isn’t,” explained Wilson, when asked what this album is about.

Steven Wilson’s album To The Bone will release on 18 August. He will go on tour with the music of this album in January 2018.
