Rock n’ Roll legend Chuck Berry died on Saturday, 18 March 2017 at the age of 90, police in Missouri said.
Police responded to a medical emergency at a home in the area, which lies in the east of Missouri state near the city of St. Louis. First responders found an unresponsive man and were unable to revive him, the official statement said.
Berry, a guitarist and singer, was known for such hits as ‘Roll over Beethoven’ and ‘Sweet Little Sixteen’,ย and helped shape the genre of Rock n’ Roll. Naturally his death drew emotional tributes from fellow musicians and other celebrities who praised him as a rock ’n’ roll trailblazer.
Bruce Springsteen hailed Berry as the greatest rocker of all time.
“Chuck Berry was rock’s greatest practitioner, guitarist and the greatest pure rock ’n’ roll writer who ever lived,” Springsteen wrote on Twitter.

Springsteen often cited Chuck Berry as an influence, playing back-up in the rock elder’s band in the 1970s as The Boss was gaining fame. The two guitarists again collaborated in 1995 in a gala concert to open the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Singer songwriter Brian Wilson of the band Beach Boys also took to twitter.

It started with Chuck Berry. He inspired us all. The 1st album I bought was Chuck's "Live at the Tivoli" and I was never the same.
