On Air With AIB Episode 2: Science, homophobia and religious fundamentalism

On Air With AIB released the fifth episode of its second season on 15 March, 2017; an episode that deals with the Indian tendency to reject science and rely more on ancient scriptures.

In a new segment called ‘Can You Not’, Rohan Joshi and Gursimran Khamba spoke about how Indians “mess with science”, rather believing in less logical ideologies. They made a few jokes about how science is viewed as a career choice.

They spoke about the way that the Indian Youth Science Congress is conducted and critiqued one of the speakers who was present this year. This speaker claimed that people in ancient India could teleport using the power of meditation.

They also made jokes about science v/s religion, but the punchline that took the cake was the one where Joshi said that science can make bombs, “…but you need a religious person to set it off.”

The typical All India Bakchod (AIB)-style humour was also evident in the backdrop of the video which reads: “’Dumadaum Mast Kalandar’ has to be the ‘Summer of 69 of the sufi world’.” They took a jibe at the protectors of “Indian culture”, and said that we shouldn’t respect something ancient just because it is ancient.
