Ex-Bigg Boss contestant Mandana Karimi has filed a case of domestic violence against her husband Gaurav Gupta. The news of this case comes a day after she reportedly filed for divorce from her husband. They have been married for six months.
The couple got engaged in July 2016 and married on 25 January 2017. She also alleged that she was not allowed to enter her house, and that she was harassed by her mother-in law.
She says that she was thrown out seven weeks ago, and despite attempts at reconciliation, her in-laws did not take her back. “I was thrown out of my matrimonial house seven weeks ago. I made desperate attempts to reconcile with them, but my in-laws didn’t allow me back. Gaurav has cut me off,” said Karimi, as quoted by Mid-Day.
She says that she was also forced to convert to Hinduism, which she refused to do. In her complaint, she has alleged that she was forced to quit her career because her job was “incompatible with his [Gupta’s> family’s status in the society”.
Her lawyer has reported the matter in the court and it will be contested as per law. The case will be heard on 15 July at the Andheri metropolitan court. Apart from a compensation of Rs 2 crore, she has also sought monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh.
In her application for reality show Bigg Boss, she mentioned that she came to India from Iran in 2012 to pursue modelling and acting, and that she had met Gupta through a common friend.
