Sanjay hugged his spot boy immediately after the shot and then made a call to his wife Maanyata who is currently on a trip to the USA. He had a long conversation with his wife who has promised to spend a few days with the cast and crew in Agra soon. Sanjay’s children, Shahraan and Iqra, are also expected to join them, as per the report by Mumbai Mirror.

Sanjay’s good friend Shekhar Suman was also on the sets to encourage his fellow actor. Suman plays a close aide of Sanjay in the film but he did not have a scene to shoot on the first day. Nonetheless, he was present at the sets to pep up Sanjay in his emotional moment. The two actors shared the screen space in the 1994 action ensemble Insaaf Apne Lahoo Se.

While the release date of Bhoomi has not been officially confirmed yet, it will be Sanjay’s first film in years as his last outing was Rajkumar Hirani’s science fiction satire PK, in which he played the supporting role of a traditional Rajasthani band member.

His upcoming projects include untitled projects directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Siddharth Anand respectively. He will also share the screen space with long-time collaborator Arshad Warsi in the third installment of Rajkumar Hirani’s Munna Bhai franchise .
