The trailer of Dinesh Vijan’s directorial debut Raabta caught everyone’s attention with its surprise element. However, the makers have yet another surprise in store for the title song of the film.
Hindustan Times reports that Vijan confirmed his lucky mascot Deepika Padukone has done a special dance performance on the title song of the film, which is a rehash of the song ‘Raabta’ from Sriram Raghawan’s 2012 spy thriller Agent Vinod.
While the original song featured Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the rehashed version by music composer Pritam will see Padukone shake a leg on the same. She especially flew to Budapest to shoot for the song.
Bollywood Life reports that the leading lady of Raabta, Kriti Sanon, also lauded Padukone for her dance moves and dubbed her as the perfect choice for the song.
The report quotes her as saying, “Firstly , I hate the term `item number’. It’s a special dance number, which is the title track of our film. If I am offered a superb song like this in some movie, I will lap it up. In fact, I was present on the set when it was being filmed and we had a gala time. It’s not a random song, it’s very much a part of the narrative. Deepika was looking super hot and was the best choice for it.”
Padukone has been a lucky charm to both Vijan and his fellow filmmaker Homi Adajania. She has been the leading lady of three films co-produced by the two - Imtiaz Ali’s 2009 film Love Aaj Kal, Adajania’s 2012 film Cocktail and his 2014 film Finding Fanny.
Raabta also stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Jim Sarbh and Varun Sharma. It is co-produced by Adjania and Vijan’s Maddock Films and Bhushan and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series Films. The romantic thriller is slated to release on 16 June.
