Jagga Jasoos release date to get delayed again: Exam season, song re-shoot, Ranbir-Katrina to blame?

Anurag Basu’s upcoming action comedy adventure Jagga Jasoos has been in the making ever since the release of his last film in 2012, Barfi. It was speculated that the delay was a result of the simmering tensions between the lead pair Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

However, Basu clarified that he had chosen to shoot for the much-anticipated film for just five days as he was taking some time out for his family. The Times of India reports that Barfi was the first time he hit the jackpot so was taking his well-deserved time off. He also clarified that there was no problem from the actors’ front and that they were even more productive after their breakup.

On Koffee with Karan Season 5, Kapoor clarified that they were trying their best to make Jagga Jasoos better than Barfi and that is why it is taking them so long to release the film. Now, another report by the Times of India suggests that the release may get further delayed from 7 April.

It states that Basu wants to shoot a few lines of one of the 29 songs of the film again. Now that Kapoor and Kaif have committed to other projects, it will be tough to get them on board for the re-shoot. Kapoor started shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic of Sanjay Dutt earlier this month. However, Basu has requested the lead pair to take out just five days from their hectic schedules so that he can wrap up the shooting. The set of a temple is being built in the Film City where this song sequence will be shot.

DNA reports that the reason the makers are looking for a push of the release date is because of the impending exam season.

Since the film will make for a family watch, they are looking forward to a more appropriate time to release it than during the exams where students will refrain from watching films. However, until they get a suitable date later in the year, the release date of the film will remain 7 April.

Now, a source informs us that the actual reason behind the delay is the lack of cooperation between Kaif and Kapoor. The two actors have refused to promote the film together which is why it is expected to get delayed yet again. While there is no official word of confirmation from the producers, another delay in the release might just kill the buzz around the movie.

Jagga Jasoos also stars Adah Sharma and Sayani Gupta. It is co-produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Basu and Kapoor.
