Deven Bhojani’s action entertainer Commando 2 hits the theatres today. While a relatively new actor like Vidyut Jammwal would have jitters on the release day, he seems fairly confident throughout the promotional phase.
The Indian Express reports that Jammwal is not seeking a Rs 100 crore or Rs 200 crore film. “I am an actor. It’s a director and producer’s problem. I know some actors who get worried. But I am not one of them. I am hired to do a job and I did it well. Now, if the film doesn’t do well, it’s not in my destiny. But I have done my job well,” says the young actor.
He attributes the success of the prequel, Commando, to its response on television. Though the film had a slow start in cinema halls, it more than made up for it on television as it became one of the most viewed films on TV in the recent times, as per a report by Hindustan Times . It is the overwhelming response from TV viewers that prompted Vipul Shah, the producer, to announce a sequel.
The two instruments that worked in the favour of Commando were its high-octane action sequences and the new action star in the block - Jammwal.
While speaking to Hindustan Times, he boats of his ability to carry off stunts with ease, ““I already am the biggest action hero in Bollywood. Nobody can do what I can. If they can, they should display it, just not talk about it.”
Jammwal seeks his inspiration from not only action icons like Akshay Kumar, Jackie Chan and Ajay Devgn but also YouTube videos of stuntmen and action enthusiasts. While he did a somersault over an automobile in the prequel, he jumped notches higher in Commando 2 when he slid beneath one.
Commando 2 also stars Adah Sharma, Esha Gupta and Shefali Shah.
