Baadshado promo: Ajay Devgn, Vidyut Jammwal face off in historical treasure heist. Watch videos

When it comes to the Emergency, most movies made thus far have been political dramas that explore how each person in politics contributed to the situation. In the midst of these films comes Baadshaho, which is an out-and-out action entertainer. The makers of the film recently released four promo videos where stunts and dialogue will thrill you in equal measure.

In the first promo video, the mood of the Emergency and the devastation that it involved is set. We see people rioting, police officers engaged in first fights and get a glimpse of the loot that Ajay Devgn intends to get his hands on. We also learn that he will use this turmoil to his advantage, even if he has to fight an elite army.

“Woh army thi, aur hum bhi haraami the,” Devgn says. This promo also has an another interesting line said by Emraan Hashmi in his classic style: “Sharam aur main toh ek sentence mein nahi aate, madam.”

In the second video, we are shown shades of the other characters in the film, such as the badass, gun-wielding Esha Gupta, the helpless Sudhir Mishra who lies on a table next to a goat, and the anxious Ileana D’Cruz. There’s also a mysterious shot of Devgn undressing a woman on top of what seems to be a fort or palace.

There’s also a line which reveals how determined Devgn’s character is: “Chaar din ki zindagi hai, aur aaj chautha din hai, yeh sochkar itne saal nikal diye.”

The third one involves several chase sequences, giving us a glimpse into the action scenes of Baadshaho.

In the fourth, we see Devgn and Vidyut Jammwal challenging each other. “Poora sheher uthal-puthal kar diya aapne,” remarks Devgn. “Abhi toh aaya hu,” Jammwal replies smugly.

Baadshaho tells the story of six “badasses” who decide to pull of a heist to get their hands on a vast amount of wealth, and this story takes place against the backdrop of the Emergency. It is said that the the film is based on Indira Gandhi’s orders to capture Jaigarh Fort, which is believed to be the hiding place for Raja Mansingh of Jaipur’s treasure.

Baadshado, directed by Milan Luthria, is scheduled to release on 1 September.
