Ben Affleck to reprise role of autistic auditor Christian Wolff in The Accountant sequel?

Warner Bros is planning a sequel to the 2016 hit The Accountant with Ben Affleck in talks to return as Christian Wolff. Original screenwriter Bill Dubuque and director Gavin O’Connor are also in talks to return for the new film, reported Deadline. The sequel will also probably include Jon Bernthal, who played a key role in the original.

The original starred Affleck as the title character, a math savant with high-functioning autism who works as a forensic accountant and un-cooks the books for unsavory criminal organizations under the glare of law enforcement.

Wolff eventually finds himself in trouble after a client puts him in a tight spot. The film was hailed as an unconventional thriller and was praised by the critics.

The film clashed at the box-office with Max Steel and Kevin Hart: What Now? Therefore, it was expected to have a decent start, if not a humongous one. However, quite unexpectedly, the movie raked in as much as $155 million worldwide on a $44 million budget.

Apart from Affleck, the film also had Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor among others, in pivotal roles.
