They were all set to tie the knot in a fairytale ceremony this May in Rome.
However, reports have now indicated that Telugu actor Akhil Akkineni and designer Shriya Bhupal have called off their engagement.
Akhil is the son of actors Nagarjuna and Amala, while Shriya is the grand-daughter of industrialist GVK Reddy. The couple had been dating for a couple of years before they got engaged in 2016.
Shriya and her family was also present at the engagement of Akhil’s brother Naga Chaitanya’s engagement to Samantha Ruth Prabhu earlier this year.
There was speculation that the Akhil-Shriya wedding would be followed by Chaitanya and Samantha’s nuptials.
The Akkineni and Reddy families have not issued any statement so far, but The New Indian Express quoted their sources as saying that family, friends and colleagues who had been invited to the wedding in Italy had been asked to cancel their tickets and other bookings.
