Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Bhaag Jayegi might not have been a huge success at the box-office, but it sure struck a chord with the audiences.
Although the film lacked profundity, its comic sequences were enjoyed by many. It seems that all these factors have contributed in the makers’ decision to have a sequel. Aditya Roy Kapur might play the male lead in the film’s sequel opposite Sonakshi Sinha, as per a DNA report.
Firstpost had earlier reported about Kartik Aryan replacing Kapur in a film starring Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh after producers refused to pay the fees Kapur had asked for.
However, Sinha and Kapur might unite for the sequel to Happy Bhaag Jayegi, which originally starred Diana Penty, Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal and and Jimmy Shergill.
If Kapur gets on board, it will be his first film with Sinha. Kapur was last seen in Ok Jaanu opposite Shraddha Kapoor. The film tanked both commercially and critically. Sinha had last played a journalist in her Noor film which also faltered on all fronts.
As per the same DNA report, Ayushmann Khurrana had been approached for the lead role, initially. The actor, however, could not come on board due to prior commitments to Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film.
