A picture speaks a 1000 words, but in Amitabh Bachchan’s timeline, one picture is enough to generate copious amounts of nostalgia. 41 years later, after the release and adulation of Yash Chopra’s Deewar, Amitabh Bachchan posted an iconic image from the film on Twitter, along with a current-day recreation, in the same very spot that it was taken.
The image has Vijay (Bachchan) from the film, sitting on a chair with his feet on the table, and a beedi in his mouth.
He is wearing the typical _coolie (_luggage porter) uniform: striking blue shirt with spare rope on his shoulder.
Interspersed with that is an image of current day Amitabh, sitting in the same spot, in the same studio.
A lot has changed: the chairs are now made of plastic as opposed to the wooden ones in the original 70s’ image. Amitabh is (very) visibly older, with a tuft of a white french beard. His height’s probably still the same, though.

There is much debate over everybody’s favorite Bachchan film, but Deewar must on many lists. And this image definitely brought back some fond memories, even for those of us who were born after the film’s release.
One can only imagine the level of nostalgia Bachchan would have felt!
