Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan has been advised rest and will not play the remaining days of the second Test at the SSC.
Junaid was hit on the right side of the head by a bouncer from Dhammika Prasad in the 91st over of Pakistan's innings on Saturday but he continued batting and was unbeaten on 13. However, he needed medical assistance when he reached the dressing room and lost his balance. The bowler missed two sessions of play on the third day as he was under observation in a hospital.
"The impact of the hit was hard and the doctor has advised him two days of rest," Moin Khan, the Pakistan team manager, told ESPNcricinfo. "There is no fracture nor internal bleeding reported, so his tests are clear. But there is some swelling and he can't field because it hurts. He is talking and eating normally but there is a slight concussion which will recover with rest."
Junaid is the part of ODI squad for the three-match series which starts from August 23 in Hambantota. According to Moin, Junaid will need another day to recover from the swelling and is expected to be fit for the limited-overs games.
