WI coach expects Narine to bounce back

A day after Sunil Narine was reported for a suspect action in the Champions League T20, West Indies coach Stuart Williams has said he believed that the offspinner will "get over" the controversy "in a positive way".

"We haven't actually spoken to Sunil as yet. Sunil obviously is a champion. He is a strong character," Williams told reporters during the West Indies' first media interaction after arriving in India for a full series. "Obviously the captain (Dwayne Bravo) is also playing for Chennai (Super Kings) so, we haven't sat down and spoken about it as yet. So we are still waiting for a couple of days to have a chat ... I think he will get over this in a positive way."

Narine was reported for a suspect bowling action after the Kolkata Knight Riders' CLT20 game against the Dolphins. ESPNcricinfo understands that the match officials had found three quicker deliveries he bowled against Dolphins were in violation of norms set for legal bowling action.

Reacting to the ICC's recent crackdown on bowlers with suspect action, Williams said, "Well obviously the ICC have a mandate to govern the sport. We just have to embrace the changes."

Narine, along with Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell, will join the West Indies squad once their CLT20 commitments are over. West Indies will play two warm-up one-day games against India A in Mumbai on October 3 and 5. This will be the West Indies' third tour to India in three years. The team started off its preparations with a training session at the Cricket Club of India in the afternoon.
