Turkish land forces will carry out the "necessary activities" into Syria's Afrin province on Sunday depending on developments in the region, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters hours after Turkish armed forces launched an operation against a U.S.-backed Kurdish militia in Syria's Afrin province, Yildirim said the military had destroyed nearly all targets it identified in the region with air strikes.

Russia has moved its troops away from Afrin, saying it is concerned but will not interfere. Syria denounced Turkey's "aggression" and "brutal attack", reported BBC.

The Syrian government has condemned Turkish air strikes against the Afrin region on Saturday and said Ankara had not informed it of the military operation, state media said.
Damascus "strongly condemns this brutal Turkish aggression on Afrin which is an intrinsic part of Syrian land," state media cited an official source in the foreign ministry as saying.
Turkey opened a new front in Syria's war on Saturday, striking Kurdish-held Afrin and raising the prospect of deeper strains between Ankara and NATO ally Washington.
