Nusret Gokce, popularly known as Salt Bae, shared a picture to his Instagram casting his vote for Turkey's Referendum in his signature salt-sprinkling style on Sunday.

Gokce became an overnight Internet sensation when he was made into a meme 'Salt Bae' by the Twitterverse earlier this year earning the reputation of the first meme of 2017.

A perplexed official looks on as 'Salt Bae' pulls his arm into the familiar pose we all know so well. The image is captioned in Turkish and roughly translates to "process complete."

Although one does wonder if the envelope was placed inside the ballot in his signature style too since the slot appears too tight.

Turkish voters are visiting polling stations to vote on a referendum which, if approved, would concentrate power in the hands of Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Gokce is the co-owner of a chain of six steakhouses called Nusr-Et in Turkey, one in Dubai and another in Abu Dhabi.

He had an extensive fan base long before he became "Salt Bae", and Turkish media reports call Gokce's business a million-dollar empire with over 400 employees.

Celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Roger Federer and Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil have dined at his steakhouses.

Gokce became an instant sensation on January 7, 2017, when he posted a video of himself very lovingly preparing an Ottoman Steak and although it wasn't his first video, it went viral on Twitter gaining 48,000 likes and 33,000 retweets within 48 hours.

And a meme was born!

And the rest, as they say, is history... People use his unique style of sprinkling salt on well-prepared meats to express how excessive or over-dramatic they are being.
