#HappyEaster: Pope Francis, world leaders and celebrities extend wishes to Christian community

On the occassion of Easter Sunday celebrities and leaders took to social media to extend their wishes.

The Christian Holy Week comes to an end on Sunday with Easter, a festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his crucification on Good Friday. It is also the final day of Lent, a forty day period which signifies the final days of Jesus Christ. This time is marked by devotees with fasting, penance and prayers.

Easter Sunday is a day of celebration and social media is abound with good wishes from around the world. In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee took to Twitter to extend their wishes. The President in a series of tweets urged everyone to take inspiration from the teachings of Christ and to to aid the weak and downtrodden and eradicate violence.

Pope Francis, head of the Roman Catholic Church too posted on Twitter commemorating the occasion.

President of USA, Donald Trump had earlier wished everyone on the occasions of Easter and Passover in his Weekly Address. 

Numerous sports personalities too sent greetings and good wishes through social mediums, as did many Bollywood celebrities.
