: A Ghana national was detained here today for carrying fake British currency in his baggage, police said.

During a check of bus passengers at Amaravilai checkpost, police found that Rope Edison, hailing from Ghana, had British currency in his bag.

Police said Edison, who was on his way to Thiruvananthapuram via Kanyakumari by bus, was carrying equipment to print currency notes.

Initial investigation revealed that he was part of an international gang involved in smuggling and printing of fake currency notes.
