Dubai-based carrier Emirates was fined by China's civil aviation authority which barred it from adding more destinations and aircrafts in China for the next six months after two "unsafe operations"  were reported, according to the state news agency Xinhua, on Thursday.

Emirates, the world's largest long-haul airline, was fined 29,000 yuan ($4,270) by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Senior officials from the airline were summoned for a meeting, Xinhua reported.

According to the CAAC, on April 17, the airline's crew was responsible for an incident wherein one of the aircrafts flew at a wrong height and on May 18, a plane temporarily lost contact with air traffic control..

Both incidents took place over Xinjiang, China's far western region.
