A brand new trailer for Netflix drama The Crown dropped on Monday evening (IST) and it gives more insight into the private life of the monarch.
In the latest trailer, Queen Elizabeth II, played by Golden Globes winner Claire Foy, is trying hard to balance the pressure of the post-war, changing Britain asking monarchy to change with it and maintaining the traditions she grew up with.
To add to her misery, jealousy of her husband (Matt Smith) is now comparing him to his own son Charles. The queen's sister Margarate (Venessa Kirby) has opened another front for conflict when she falls for society photographer Tony Armstrong Jones (Matthew Goode).
Set to The Flamingos' 'I Only Have Eyes For You,' the trailer does a beautiful montage of tough situations laid in front of the British monarch that also includes a scene with John F Kennedy's wife, Jackie Kennedy.
Beginning with soldiers in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces fighting an illegal war in Egypt, and ending with the downfall of her third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan after a devastating scandal, the second season bears witness to the end of the age of deference, and ushers in the revolutionary era of the 1960s.
This is the last season for Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II since The Night Manager star Olivia Coleman has been roped in to play the older day Queen for season three and four of the series.
Created by Peter Morgan, the series will premier on December 8.
