Sherlock writers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat are reuniting for a new take on the Bram Stoker vampire classic Dracula.

The hit duo will write the show, which will be in a miniseries format, reported Variety.

Gatiss and Moffat will start working on the series as soon as they finish their current solo projects. Gatiss is currently working on a movie The Favourite, while Moffat is finishing his final run as a show maker on the tenth season of 2005 revival of Doctor Who.

Sue Vertue's Hartswood Films will produce the show alongside other international partners that are expected to board the project.

Dracula will be the first collaboration between Moffat and Gatiss since the last Sherlock episode that aired in January. Sherlock served as Hollywood launchpad for its stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. It also became BBC's biggest seller with broadcasting rights sold in over 200 territories around the globe.

The Sherlock team may not have immediate plans for the fifth season, but the makers have not ruled out a possibility if the filming schedules of Cumberbatch and Freeman allow it.

Stoker's story of Dracula follows the count's attempt to move from Transylvania to England in his search for new blood. It is unclear if like Sherlock this story too will be based in modern times.
