Xiaomi recently unveiled its latest smartphone, called Black Shark. The smartphone is meant for gaming, and comes with high-end specifications to make it one of the most powerful Android smartphones currently available, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM and a 5.99-inch full-HD+ screen. The phone isn’t Xiaomi-branded, but is a project backed by the popular Chinese smartphone maker, and for now has only been launched in China. However, the launch event has given away one additional scoop, with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun inadvertently letting slip visuals of a yet-to-be-released product.

During the launch event, Lei Jun was spotted wearing an unidentified fitness tracker, which is speculated to be the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 3. It is the latest in the range of fitness trackers from the Chinese smartphone maker, and the successor to the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 and Mi Band HRX Edition that is available in India.
The first Xiaomi Mi Band was launched in India back in 2015 at Rs 999, while the Mi Band 2 was launched in September 2016 at Rs 1,999. The Mi Band 2 also included a heart-rate sensor apart from the basic step and sleep tracking.
As you can see from the image above which was first reported on by ThePhoneTalks, Lei Jun can be seen holding the new Black Shark smartphone. But what some keen eyes also spotted is the unidentified fitness tracker on his left wrist. The tracker does not appear to be any device that has already been launched, and looks notably different from any of the fitness trackers that are already available in the market. This has led to speculation that it could well be an early unit of the Mi Band 3, which the CEO of the company would naturally have access to.
As of now, nothing more is known of the Xiaom Mi Band 3, with the exception of it receiving Bluetooth certification in February this year. It’s likely to retain some of the key features that have been present in the range so far, such as the heart rate monitor, step tracking and sleep tracking. The design is notably different and appears to be larger, indicating that it could also include some new features. There’s no word on when the Mi Band 3 could launch, but we could well see it alongside the Mi 6X that will launch on April 25.
