Boxer Vijender Singh is set to fight China's Zulpikar Maimaitiali in a Super Middleweight contest at the National Sports Club of India, Mumbai on August 5.

The fight is being dubbed as 'Battleground Asia.' In the fight Singh's WBO Asia-Pacific championship belt is at stake as he will vie for MaiMaitiali's  WBO Oriental Super Middleweight title.

As Singh is preparing for the fight in Manchester, England, he is also getting upset watching the news about Indo-China border tension. According to a report in Mid-Day, the boxer said that he gets angry watching the news about Chinese soldier's encroaching on the Indian border.

He said that the current scenario is totally unfair, "I'm definitely more pumped up to fight that Chinese guy now. Professionally, he's got eight wins out of eight, just like me, but now I have an added incentive to beat him. So, what if I'm not wearing the Indian army greens, I believe I can contribute to my country in my own way here."

"Just as our soldiers are doing well to keep these Chinese guys away from India and back in their own country, it's my turn now to beat this Chinese boxer and send him back to his country," the daily quoted him as saying.

Vijender Singh is from Haryana and the state has contributed richly to the Indian Army. The boxer revealed that his grandfather, Dariyal Singh was a subhedar major in the Jatt Regiment.

Vijender Singh holds a record of 7 knockout wins which gives him an edge over his opponent who has 5 knockout wins under his name.

The event will feature other boxers in undercard fights.

The 2008 Olympic trio of Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar will be seen after a gap of 9 years in the professional ring.

WBC Asia Welterweight champion Neeraj Goyat, Pardeep Kharera, Dharmender Grewal and Kuldeep Dhanda are amongst the other names that will be a part of 'Battleground Asia'.
