A young, inexperienced England side snatched a remarkable 38-34 win in Argentina with a dramatic try from Denny Solomona, England's fourth, in the 79th minute on Saturday.

England brought on all but one of their replacements in San Juan, which means they blooded 10 new caps, the most since 1956.

Level at 31-all, England fell behind to a dropped goal by Juan Martin Hernandez in the 77th minute but replacement Solomona, making his debut, crossed the line and George Ford converted.

Each side scored four tries in a thrilling game, which the home side led 17-13 at halftime.

With tries from Emiliano Boffelli, Tomas Lavanini, Jeronimo de la Fuente and Joaquin Tuculet, Argentina thought they had done enough to win.

Marland Yarde, Jonny May and Ford had scored England's tries, with the excellent kicking of Ford, who scored 23 points, keeping them in the match.

Santa Fe hosts next weekend's second test. Win there, and this young England team will have made a statement ahead of the 2019 World Cup, where they will face Argentina again in the pool stages.
