Returning to action after a short break, Anirban Lahiri will tee off at the Travelers Championship with an eye to earn a place in next month's British Open.

The 29-year-old Indian virtually secured his card for 2018 with a sensational second place finish at the Memorial earlier this month.

Lahiri will now tee up at the star-studded event that sees World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, No. 3 Jason Day and No. 6 Jordan Spieth in the field for the USD 6.8 million tournament starting tomorrow at TPC River Highlands.

Spieth, like McIlroy, will play the tournament for the first time.

Lahiri has so far missed both Masters and US Open this year and the only Major he is sure of is the PGA Championships in August.

The Travelers will be a chance for Lahiri to try and earn a place into the British Open next month.

Lahiri is 66th in World Rankings and is targeting getting inside Top-50 for the Open. In the FedEx Cup rankings he is 46th and is certain for the Play-offs.

"It was a nice break (after Memorial). I am feeling very energetic and refreshed and very positive," said Lahiri, who played the Memorial fortnight ago and closed the week with a stunning 65 on the final day after a 69 in the third.

He was Tied-second, his best finish on the Tour and the second Top-3 of the season. "I did some meditation and it was very healing to get away for a few days." On the TPC River Highlands course, Lahiri said, "I like the look of the course though it's a first time experience. I am looking to build on the momentum from previous start and play solid."

This week Lahiri goes out in the afternoon for the first round with Scott Stallings and Zac Blair.

In addition to McIlroy, Day and Spieth, the Travelers Championship will be bolstered by the presence of Justin Thomas, No. 13 in the world; U.S. Ryder Cup stalwart and 15th-ranked Patrick Reed; two-time major winner Zach Johnson; and Russell Knox.
