Responding to Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho's comments about managers being animated on the touchline, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte hit back saying it might be a case of 'senile dementia.'

On Thursday, without naming names, Mourinho had said that he did not feel that coaches need to behave like clowns on the touchline when matches are going on. The dig was reportedly aimed at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte who are considered one of the most expressive coaches in Premier League.

According to a report by Associated Press, Conte said on Friday, "I think he has to see himself in the past, maybe he was speaking about himself in the past. Maybe, sometimes, I think that someone forgets what’s said in the past, which is his behaviour. Sometimes I think there is, I don’t know the name, but ‘demenza senile’ (the Italian for ‘senile dementia’) … when you forget what you do in the past.”

Mourinho has been a bit theatric himself in the past. He poked his finger in the eye of Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova in a scrimmage during Spanish Super Cup in 2011. In 2014, when Mourinho was head coach of Chelsea, he charged down the touchline when the English club eleminated Paris Saint-Germain from Champions League.

Talking about Mourinho's past with Chelseas, Conte said, "There is a person that continues to look here. You understand? He went away, but he continued to look here."
