Indian footballer C K Vineeth, who had been appointed as Auditor in the Principal Accountant General's office, lost his job after his service was terminated reportedly due to lack of attendance. Because of his busy training schedule and matches, the player had been unable to attend his office regularly due to which his probation had not been extended.

The unexpected termination had taken the sports community by storm, and Union sports minister Vijay Goel promised to intervene and make amends. He said, "If rules are a hindrance, we might change the rules because they are dedicated for the passion of sports," said Goel in a statement.
Goel said he will speak to the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the matter.
"We expect the minister (Sports Minister Vijay Goel)to intervene and rectify the decision," Vijayan said in a Facebook Post, just after the match. If the Centre fails to take a decision, the state government was prepared to offer Vineeth an 'appropriate' post, he said.
Kerala Sports Minister A C Moideen and opposition leader in the state assembly Ramesh Chennithala had earlier written to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to reconsider the decision. Kerala government would once again write to the centre in this regard, Moideen had stated yesterday.
