The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna has landed himself in a soup once again. A couple of days back, he was asked to be present on Thursday "in person" by the Supreme Court for his failure to implement the Justice Lodha panel reforms in BCCI. On Tuesday, his hand-picked members in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) overwhelmingly rejected SC's key reforms during a special general meeting (SGM) held here last week.
Khanna has been controlling DDCA by proxies for the last 36 years and it was on his behest that members who participated in the e-voting process were pushed to reject two key Lodha reforms. The two points they don't want to accept are "proxy voting" and "automatic disqualification after nine years of holding office with a cooling off period of three years after every term".
This, despite the fact that SC-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) had asked all the Board's affiliated units to fall in line or face serious repercussions, including losing BCCI's affiliation.
Come Thursday, all three office-bearers — acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary and acting president Khanna himself — will have to explain why a contempt proceedings can't be initiated against them for stonewalling Lodha panel report.

"How can DDCA's proxy king Khanna lose his control?" asked DDCA member Sameer Bahadur, adding: "For Khanna, who occupied this chair some 35 years ago, DDCA is just like his second home. His journey from a tailor shop to managing cricket in this country is one of its kind."
With the DDCA currently being run by a retired SC judge, appointed as administrator by Delhi High Court, there is likelihood that Justice (retired) Vikramjit Sen would send report to COA as well as file the status report before the Delhi HC in this regard.
"COA should immediately stop all the funds flow to DDCA unless new elections are held," said former India wicket-keeper batsman Surender Khanna.
Meanwhile, COA has been awaiting report from Justice Sen in this regard before taking any action against DDCA. A senior BCCI official told this paper that "since Justice Sen is running the show in DDCA, the international matches can go ahead as per schedule".
Delhi has been allotted a T20 match against New Zealand followed by the third and final Test against Sri Lanka.
"The funds demanded by DDCA has already been released after an undertaking by Justice Sen that his association abides by Justice Lodha reforms," informed a senior official of BCCI on Tuesday.
On the question of disaffiliation, BCCI official remained non-committal as the Apex court is likely to take all errant associations to task in the due course. "Let them face music inside the Court," the official said.
