Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium will play host to the one-off Test as a part of the Friendship Series between India and Afghanistan from June 14 to 18. This will be the war-torn country's first-ever Test match.

This has come days after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a list of 13 Afghan players whose names would come up for Indian Premier League (IPL) auction slated for January 27-28.

Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi became the first two cricketers from Afghanistan to be bought at the last year IPL players' auction.

India has never played any Test at home in the month of June. However, BCCI is hoping that Bengaluru weather would be kind enough to provide full five days without any rain.

"Considering that June is a rainy month, we thought it was best to host the historic Test in Bengaluru," board's acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said on Tuesday.

India has played a big role in Afghanistan, which has been ravaged by decades of infighting and war, earning Test status alongside Ireland last year. They became cricket's 11th and 12th Test-playing nations respectively.

And Afghanistan was also extended a helping hand by BCCI by allowing their squad to play friendly matches in the Greater Noida stadium.

Afghanistan has requested that they be allotted another home ground in India. DNA has learnt that Lucknow's newly-built Ekana Stadium, which recently hosted Duleep Trophy matches, will be will be offered to them to be used as their "home ground".

The officials of ACB have inspected the venue before agreeing to BCCI's proposal. The stadium has been given international status by the International Cricket Council.

The stadium was earlier the first choice to host a one-dayer between India and New Zealand recently, however, the game had to be shifted at the last hour as there was some construction work pending.
