India's Aditi Ashok got off to a fine start with a one-under 70 that put her at tied-28th in the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic golf here.

Aditi, playing her sixth LPGA event of the season, had four birdies against three bogeys in a fairly steady round.

But the other Indian in the field, Sharmila Nicollet had a tough time in the afternoon as she scored five-over 77 and will need to go low to make the 36-hole cut.

Aditi, opening on the first, was steady and she got her first birdie on second, but a bogey on eighth brought her to level par but soon on next hole she got a birdie to turn in one-under.

On the back nine, she birdied 12th and 17th, but gave away bogeys on 14th and the closing hole, the 18th.

Sharmila was hit hard by two doubles, one at the start on 11th after she started on 10th and another on ninth, her closing hole of the day. She had two birdies and three other bogeys.

Sweden's two-time champion Anna Nordqvist stayed on course to for a three-peat enroute to a seven-under 64. That gave her a one shot lead over Moriya Jutanugarn, the younger sister of the in-form Ariya Jutanugarn, who was taking the week off.

Others at six-under were Jennifer Song, Jenny Shin, and Jeong Eun Lee.
