Statistics galore.

It's said 'cricket is a great leveller'. And the biggest casualty of this fact is Virat Kohli.
The reason is simple. On the same day when the Indian skipper scored his fourth double ton in whites to go past Sir Donald Bradman and Rahul Dravid's record of three double centuries in three consecutive Test series, he saw one of his ODI record being broken by none other than South African Hashim Amla.
Amla, who has always stayed in hot pursuit of Kohli in terms of ODI feats, became the fastest batsman to score 24 ODI centuries. This record was held by the Indian till this date, as he had completed his 24th ton in 161 innings while the South African replicated the same in just 142 innings.

It may sound ironic, but statistics prove that there's a funny game on between Kohli, Amla and his country mate Quinton de Kock. Amla may have broken Kohli's record on Friday, but he had his own record thrashed in front of his eyes by de Kock. The left-hander scored his 12th ton (in 74 innings) in the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka and became the fastest man on earth to do so, overtaking Amla who had reached the milestone in 81 innings, while Kohli scored 12 centuries in 83 innings.

De Kock hit 109 off 87 balls, playing the dominant role in an opening partnership of 187, a record for South Africa against Sri Lanka. Amla was more circumspect initially but went on to make 154 off 134 balls. Seeking to complete a 5-0 series sweep, South Africa scored 384 for six after being sent in to bat.
