18-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has climbed up four places to the sixth spot in the latest ATP rankings after lifting his fifth Indian Wells Masters title. The Swiss could get to the No.1 ranking if he wins the French Open in June.

As a result, Federer leapfrogged arch-rival Rafael Nadal, who got eliminated at the hand of the Swiss maestro in the fourth round in California.

Federer on Sunday once again displayed why he is called a legend as he defeated Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-5 in an all-Swiss final that lasted for one hour and 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray continues to remain at the top spot despite his second-round exit from Indian Wells while Novak Djokovic, who also made an early exit in the Southern Californian desert, retained the second spot ahead of third-placed Wawrinka.

The current ATP top 10 are:
1. Andy Murray
2. Novak Djokovic
3. Stan Wawrinka
4. Kei Nishikori
5. Milos Raonic
6. Roger Federer
7. Rafael Nadal
8. Dominic Thiem
9. Marin Cilic
10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
