Glenn Maxwell scripted a stunning one-run victory for Australia as he bowled maiden over defending two runs in the final over of the third One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan. Pakistan once again found a way to lose a winning match as they failed to score 24 in the last four overs. Maxwell in the final over of the match dismissed Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan.

On the last ball of the match, Irfan went for a wild swing and was caught which set off the celebrations in the Australian camp. With this win, the Australians have not only whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 but have also regained the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings. Below are the highlights of how the last over panned out.
Pakistan needed two runs from the final over. George Bailey made a brave decision to give the ball to a part-timer like Maxwell.

Ball 1 Maxwell to Tanvir: Maxwell comes round the wicket and the batsman goes for a wild slog, doesn’t connect at all

Ball 2 Maxwell to Tanvir: OUT! Tanvir goes for the across the line slog again and misses a flat straight delivery. He is bowled. Pakistan are on the verge of yet another harakiri

Ball 3 Maxwell to Irfan: Irfan doesn’t have a great record with the bat. Pakistan still need two runs from four balls. But Irfan acts like a cool customer trying to defend that ball!

Ball 4 Maxwell to Irfan: Maxwell is looking confident now and Australia sense that this match can be pocketed. Irfan goes for a panic-filled slog and misses it. It was well outside off stump.

Ball 5 Maxwell to Irfan: Two from two needed. Maxwell calmly gives it some air and pitched this outside off, Irfan has no clue of the line at which he is swinging his willow. Once again misses and Australia are on the verge of pulling off a shock win considering the situation.

Ball 6 Maxwell to Irfan: OUT! The was fuller and in line of the stumps. Irfan comes down the track and goes for a wild swing on the leg-side. The ball balloons in the air and Haddin for a moment wanted to go for it but withdraws and with his arms raised looks at the fielder in anticipation. James Faulkner calmly catches it and the Australians are celebrating. They can’t believe they have clinched this match from nowhere.
