With the time fast approaching for the renewal of annual Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) contracts, Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar look to be the biggest gainers along with Ajinkya Rahane and Mohammad Shami, while Yuvraj Singh could find himself relegated to Grade C for the 2014-15 season.

If sources in the BCCI are to be believed, then the biggest beneficiary could well be Saurashtra all-rounder Jadeja and Uttar Pradesh speedster Kumar, who could find themselves in the elite league of skipper MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin and Suresh Raina in the premier Grade A.

Though, Raina was not part of Team India's Test squad in the recent England tour, there is not much threat to his place in the top grade keeping in mind his fine show in the ODIs. Retired Sachin Tendulkar's name would automatically be deleted from the list likely to be released anytime in the next few days.

Rahane, Ambati Rayudu and Shami are the other likely gainers who could be rewarded with promotion in the Grade B for their "good" performance in the last contract cycle. While, Mohit Sharma is another strong contender for promotion and his case would also likely come up for a discussion when the three-member committee comprising acting president Shivlal Yadav, secretary (Sanjay Patel) and chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil will meet soon.

Despite his poor run with the bat in the last two Tests in England, opener Gautam Gambhir could well retain his Grade B along with Ishant Sharma, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma.

Another player who could see himself being pushed to Grade C is left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who has, of late, failed to keep his regular place in the team.

The new entrants to grades would be Kerala wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, Rajasthan speedster Pankaj Singh, MP speedster Ishwar Pandey and Railways leg-spinner Karn Sharma by virtue of their selection into the Team India during the recent England series.

The BCCI rules clearly say that any non-contracted player who features in any international match during the contract period is awarded a Grade C contract. Jaydev Unadkat may just manage to hang on to his Grade C contract despite the fact that he has been left far behind in the race of pace bowling contenders for the national team.

The contracts generally come up for discussion on the sidelines of the BCCI AGM during the last week of September. Since the AGM has now been deferred citing the pending Supreme Court inquiry against N Srinivasan, the contracts could well be decided separately.
