It was a precedent set by West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee to celebrate the home team’s winning of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a grand celebration in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) celebrated both their victories in 2012 and 2014 with fans at Eden. How can Mumbai Indians (MI) miss out on the same?

Mumbai Indians (MI) took the party from Eden Gardens to Wankhede Stadium as a tribute to their supportive fans. MI after a thrilling victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, were crowned champions for the second time in the history of the IPL.

After weeks of hard-work and tussle with seven different oppositions in the tournament, MI finally achieved fruitful results in the final. They had a nightmarish start to the tournament as they lost their first four consecutive matches of the season but their fans never gave up and showed immense faith in them.

On Monday, MI addressed their fans at Wankhede Stadium. The team witnessed an enormous fan support as people turned up in aplenty. The celebration started with a victory lap with MI flags waving across the ground along with MI’s anthem ‘Duniya hila denge’ buzzing all over. Players entertained the crowd with some groovy moves and ‘bhangda’ while taking the lap.

The crowds were well entertained by cheerleaders, who danced to the beat. It wasn’t the same sea of blue that one saw during the matches, but nevertheless the ones who were there enjoyed to the fullest.

From team’s co-owner to support staff everyone thanked MI fans for their support which they displayed throughout the tournament. The celebration also endorsed a bunch of children from NGO’s, as an act of social service. In the climax a group of children handed over the coveted trophy to Rohit Sharma, who lifted it once again for the MI fans. The MI skipper, when asked if his happy hunting ground Eden Gardens is dearer to him.

The stylish batsman replied, “More than anything else, I like Mumbai. This is where I started my career and nothing comes closer to this ground.” The album is a complete amalgamation of MI’s celebration at their home ground. Every player and support staff posed for a picture with the trophy as fireworks made the ambiance more vibrant. The sea of blue kept roaring and singing as MI lifted the trophy once again for their fans.
