Ben Stokes and Tymal Mills led the English invasion of Indian Premier League auction by bagging cheques of Rs 14.50 crore and Rs 12 crore, respectively to play in the 10th installment of the tournament.

Rising Pune Supergiants jumped into the ongoing bidding war for Stokes between Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Royan Challengers Bangalore, and Surisers Hyderabad. The newly appointed England Test vice-captain thus became the first million dollar buy of the 10th edition auctions.

According to a report in The Telegraph UK, Stokes was up since 3.30 am (GMT). Trying to makes sense of what was going on with the auction via Twitter because the live stream of the event was not working for English all-rounder.

Once he figured out the carnage (as he called it) of mentions and retweets, he had to figure out how much a crore means. " I hadn’t thought about how much I would go for. I guess having more than one team wanting me was probably the best position to be in," said Stokes. "It's a life changing amount of money, I can't really say more than that. I'm really thankful and grateful for how it went this morning. It has all been a bit hectic and I haven't had much time to think about it. I'm just seriously excited about getting going," Stokes continued.

Stokes may not have had time to think so he put a post on Instagram with Supergiants' logo captioning it, "Really excited to be joining up with @punesupergiants in the @iplt20 this year, always looks amazing competition and can't wait for the experience #risingpunesupergiants."

Tymal Mills, on the other hand, is in Dubai to play in Pakistan Super League for Quetta Gladiators.

The left-arm pacer told the daily that all he wanted was to get picked up by any team, even if it was as low as at the base price of Rs 50 lakh. Reason? He just didn't want to wait until July to play cricket again at the NatWest T20 Blast.

Little did he know, the T20 specialist became the subject of the second intense bidding war in the banquet hall in Bengaluru. Royal Challengers Banglore won the battle and put Mills in the company of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB De Villiers no less.

"When my name came up I was nervous, giddy and jumpy. I was on facetime with my best mate and he just kept shouting. The bidding was quite slow but once it hit 10 Crore (£1.2m) I knew it was big money, but it kept going. When it finished I did not know how much it was worth. When I worked it out I could not believe it, it did not seem real. It’s an amount of money that can change your life. It will for me," said Mills.
